The lighting of your home can have a tremendous affect on the overall style, and the success of the decorating style you were trying to achieve. This is not only because your lighting actually lights up your decor, but also because lamps and lighting can easily be an afterthought, and not as cohesive to the original style.

Therefore, when it comes to the end of a decorating project and you realise that the lamp hanging over your dining table no longer suits the style of the room, take a look around at the colors you have used, and start a collection of ribbons and fabric to suit your new style.

Simply remove the old material from the drum style frame of your lamp shade until you are left with just a wire frame. Then cut your ribbon and fabric into long lengths and strips of around the same width and either tie them to the top of the light’s frame to hand down, or sew a neat hem to keep them in place.
