The lighting of your home can have a tremendous affect on the overall style, and the success of the decorating style you were trying to achieve. This is not only because your lighting actually lights up your decor, but also because lamps and lighting can easily be an afterthought, and not as cohesive to the original style.

Therefore, when it comes to the end of a decorating project and you realise that the lamp hanging over your dining table no longer suits the style of the room, take a look around at the colors you have used, and start a collection of ribbons and fabric to suit your new style.

Simply remove the old material from the drum style frame of your lamp shade until you are left with just a wire frame. Then cut your ribbon and fabric into long lengths and strips of around the same width and either tie them to the top of the light’s frame to hand down, or sew a neat hem to keep them in place.

Consistency is Style

Choosing a style, a color palette and a theme for your decorating project or renovation is a very important part of the process and contributes to the overall success of the look you are trying to achieve. However, it is so important because the aim is to see your style through to the end of your project, but there are a number of little ways you can be let down by your home.

Before you point the finger, consider whether you have looked at every aspect of your home with regards to your new style. The success of your renovation and decoration is not about how much you spend or which brands and labels you buy, it is about being consistent – anywhere which doesn’t fit the style will stand out like a sore thumb.

So are the pet beds and dog house a neutral color to fade into the background? Are the tea towels in your new kitchen clashing with your carefully planned splashback?

Many unique kinds of bicycles were created in the 1940’s and 1950’s. They become vintage when they are over 50-60 years old. Most vintage bicycles made during the 40’s were only created because of the need to ration fuel, after World War II. Bicycle makers had to be fresh in their thinking, when decorating their bikes. They were forced to use very raw material to build the bicycles but they never failed to create a stylish mode of transportation.
There were many different kinds of bicycles that were created during the 40’s and 50’s. First, there were delivery bicycles. Delivery bikes were most often used by the post office, but were sometimes built specially for those who wanted a sturdy bike to keep at home, in case of emergency evacuation.
Next, there was the military bicycle. This type of bike was complicated to build since British soldiers who were parachuting would use it in the UK. The parachutists would strap the folded bike to themselves while in the air, and then when they landed, they would have a way of transportation to the nearest air force base.
