Many unique kinds of bicycles were created in the 1940’s and 1950’s. They become vintage when they are over 50-60 years old. There were many different kinds of bicycles that were created during the 40’s and 50’s. First, there were delivery bicycles. Delivery bikes were most often used by the post office, but were sometimes built specially for those who wanted a sturdy bike to keep at home, in case of emergency evacuation.
Next, there was the military bicycle. This type of bike was complicated to build since British soldiers who were parachuting would use it in the UK. The parachutists would strap the folded bike to themselves while in the air, and then when they landed, they would have a way of transportation to the nearest air force base.
